Excursion Ideas - Countryside & Fun
Leisure activities and the region surrounding the 4* Hotel-SPA-Gasthof - Der Eisvogel
The Hallertau area and the adjoining Altmühltal valley offer endless possibilities for leisure activities. Whether exploring the surroundings by bicycle or car, sporting activities such as tennis, golf or even Nordic walking - whether heading to the traditional cultural attractions - the area around Bad Gögging offers something for everyone to experience.
The nearby towns of Kelheim, Regensburg and Ingolstadt - even Landshut - are just a short journey away and provide plenty of interesting things to do and see.
At the EISVOGEL bicycles are available to use free of charge; and the in-house SpielGolf course is also a lot of fun. Even a walk along the River Abens is a small adventure.
We will be pleased to provide further suggestions and information about leisure activities in and around Bad Gögging at the hotel reception.
SpielGolf - Recreational fun for everyone
The EISVOGEL golf course is situated next to the Hotel and Gasthof EISVOGEL directly on the River Abens - SpielGolf offers recreational fun for the whole family!
The golf course is also perfect as a team building activity, in the form of a golf tournament, for your training event.
(Please note: winter break from November to April)
In contrast to mini golf, SpielGolf is played on "holes" of artificial turf. The very generously designed 18 holes with lengths of between 8-16 metres are considerably wider and longer than the mini golf we have known up until now. The variety and playing on holes that are semi-natural make this game particularly attractive. Slopes, hills and hollows imitate the conditions on a natural outdoor course. Grass and sand bunkers, rocks and boulders, trees and water hazards are obstacles which enhance the game. The par values given to each hole encourage competition between players and with themselves. The rules of the game are based on normal golf and, as in the bigger version, the player chooses his or her ideal stroke position for the hole. The equipment is also similar to a normal game of golf: play is with a putter and normal golf ball.
For golfers there is an original putting green with 6 holes and bunkers. SpielGolf offers the very best type of putting for experts and novices, experienced players and beginners, young and old.

There is much to say about the "wild hill" of "Holledau", as the Hallertau area is known locally; for example about hop growing, local traditions and, of course, the beer.
The scenery is like a picture postcard; particularly in summer as your eyes wander over the extensive hop gardens, dotted with fields of yellow rape.
There is so much to say about the “wild hill” of the “Holledau”, as the Hallertau is known locally – about hop cultivation, customs and naturally about the beer. The countryside is like a picture postcard, especially in summer when the eye wanders over the extensive fields of hops punctuated by yellow fields of rape.
The regions close to the Danube are very different: the river alternates from being a powerful current, to becoming almost a dreamy oxbow lake - and then the enchanting Weltenburg Narrows. A landscape crying out to be painted with its steep rocky cliffs on which castles perch, forested hills, meadows, lowland forests ...
Natural spectacles that provide the framework for the landscape. Wolnzach and Mainburg are the centres of global hop growing, the Roman bathing culture of Bad Gögging, the Altmühl Valley with its palaces and castles and of course the many breweries (as beer is almost brewed everywhere here). Experience among other things how hops are made into beer on a guided tour through the “Zum Kuchlbauer” brewery in Abensberg.
