SpielGolf is popular because of the variety it offers and play on semi-natural holes.

In contrast to mini golf, SpielGolf is played on "holes" of artificial turf. The very generously designed 18 holes with lengths of between 8-16 metres are considerably wider and longer than the mini golf we have known up until now. The variety and playing on holes that are semi-natural make this game particularly attractive. Slopes, hills and hollows imitate the conditions on a natural outdoor course. Grass and sand bunkers, rocks and boulders, trees and water hazards are obstacles which enhance the game.
The par values given to each hole encourage competition between players and with themselves. The rules of the game are based on normal golf and, as in the bigger version, the player chooses his or her ideal stroke position on the hole. The equipment is also similar to a normal game of golf: play is with a putter and normal golf ball.
